Ep. 81 - How to configure the RSForm!Pro calculations feature
In this episode we will provide detailed explanations on how to set up RSForm!Pro's 'Calculations' feature, which was released along with rev. 48.
For more information on updating the component, please referr to the RSForm!Pro update guide in our documentation.
Setting up the form fields
To demonstrate this feature's capabilities, we have created a form which includes all field types (select lists) that can be used for calculations:
- Radio group
- Checkbox group
- Drop-down menu
The select list items must be configured in the following manner:
value|label[pvalue]
Note that the value contained within the '[]' brackets is the one that will be taken into consideration, not the standard HTML select field item value (placed before the pipeline character).
Setting up the calculations
To configure calculations for your form, head to Components >> RSForm!Pro >> Manage Forms >> edit your form >> Properties and scroll down to the Calculations tab.
Here, you will find 2 fields, a drop-down in which you need to select the fields the result will be displayed in (only works with text boxes and hidden fields), and an input field in which the calculation will be set up.
The arithmetic operators that can be used for the calculations are the following:
- + (add)
- - (subtract)
- * (multiply)
- / (divide)
Their precedence is the same as in standard mathematical calculations, multiplication and division precede additions and subtractions.
By clicking in the aforementioned input field, a drop-down will be autocompleted with all the {:value} placeholders available for your form. By clicking on them, they will be added within the input. All you need to do is add the mathematical operators needed for your calculations in between these placeholders and click the green '+' button to the right side of the input to add the calculation to your form.
Note that multiple calculations can be added per form.

Unfortunately no, no logarithmic functions can't be applied.
QuoteLogarithmic calculations
Although you cleary state that simple calculations can be performed, I wondered; can logarithmic calculations be applied?
QuotePlease submit a support ticket on this, so our staff members can have a look at this.
QuoteCan I to do this?
QuoteI need to make a new calculation between multiple product lists and textbox, but when I try, the code [p15] for example, appears in the frontend, and does not perform the calculation ... it is possible to do this ???
Yes, of courseQuote
Multipage
Does this feature work with multipage? e.g. I have the options on page 1 and on page 2 the result?
Quote@Thomas
Unfortunately no, this is not designed to work with the PayPal plugin as it has its own totaling function.

Is this meant to work with the PayPal plugin? it would be nice to see more videos demonstrating this with the PayPal plugin.
