RSFirewall! was designed to come as a real plus for Joomla! websites in terms of security. With features ranging from the malware scanner and the System Check (which provides information about your Joomla! installation and your server's configuration, along with suggestions for a better set-up) to enabling Javascript, SQL and PHP protections, RSFirewall! will, undoubtedly, bring a noticeable increase in your website's safety.

The System Check

This feature verifies the status of your Joomla! installation (version, passwords for users, database and FTP, the integrity and accessibility of the configuration.php file, among others) and of your server's configuration (PHP directives) and points out the weak spots providing, at the same time, suggestions on how to best set up these parameters and what actions should be taken to improve the website's overall security.

The Database Check

RSFirewall! is capable of analysing your database's tables, optimize and repair them (if supported), providing a listing of all the tables that contains relevant information about them (engine, collation, number of rows) and the optimization process that they underwent.

Firewall Configuration

This part of RSFirewall! groups together features like an additional backend password, the logging utility and, probably the most important of all, the active scanner, which allows enabling the aforementioned Javascript, SQL and PHP protections, denying access to certain user agents, activate CAPTCHA after a number of failed log in attempts in the website's backend, ban uploaded file extensions just to name a few.

Blacklist / Whitelist IP's and Country Blocking

Blacklisting / whitelisting IP's can be done either automatically - by the Active Scanner, and manually - in the Blacklist/Whitelist tab. You can apply this for entire classes of IP's as well.

RSFirewall! also allows country blocking. All you need to do is provide a GeoIP database file and you're ready to choose which countries' users to block from accessing your website.
