RSFiles! revision 8 comes with several new features and design improvements: Joomla! 1.7 compatibility, briefcase folder with group permissions and RSMail! integration.
1. Joomla! 1.7 compatibility
We’re happy to announce that RSFiles! is now compatible with Joomla! 1.7. We’ve performed several tests and code optimization to assure that RSFiles! for 1.7 is stable and ready to be used in production environments.

Administrators are now allowed to configure briefcase folders - private areas where users with permissions can download, upload or delete their own files.
Once you have enabled the functionality and configured the Briefcase folder via the "Settings" tab (Components >> RSFiles! >> Settings >> Files ), you can assign group permissions, where users will be able to manage their briefcase files. A file limit upload can be imposed as well.
3. RSFiles! - RSMail! Integration
In addition to the existing RSMail! integrations (RSForm!Pro, RSMembership! and Joomla! registration), we’re releasing RSFiles! revision 8 with the ability to pass users’ data (name and email) to a mailing list, when downloading files via email.
The integration can be enabled via the RSFiles! "Settings" tab >> RSMail! Integration. Notice that you must have RSMail! installed.

4. Design improvements
Within a click, you can now switch to a new file design, via the "Settings" tab. Additionally, we've included an important functionality: the ability to create template overrides for file views.
