TOPIC: Managing Submissions on a mapped database

Managing Submissions on a mapped database 13 years 8 months ago #14466

I have a RSFormPro form mapped to a table in the Joomla DB. It works properly to capture the data. Now I want to be able to edit the content and delete some of the entries. I can use the Admin section to "Manage Submissions" but if I delete a record there, it still remains in the mapped database. Since I was attempting to display a form of this table in my site, I mapped to a separate table in the DB and used a separate component for display.

Now that I realize mapping is a one directional process (inserts but no updates or deletes that can be managed in the RSFormsPro component) I need to address the issue.

Is there any way to do an update of record values using RSForms? Is there anyway to make the "manage submissions" section of RSFormsPro also make the changes in the mapped table?

If this is not possible, how does one address this? Fabrik is not stable for Joomla 1.6 and Logos form manager seems complicated and requires every query generated to interact with their server, it seems. I would think this a common issue but I can't find a way to solve this with existing components. In fact, there is very little available for Joomla 1.6 / 1.7 that can even interact with tables in any form.

I would appreciate any suggestions you could offer here.

I would also liek this capability - essentially it would be like manage submissions in the back end, with edit and search, available to authorized users on the front end

After searching everywhere, I realize this is beyond most components that are currently offered.

There are two application generators that I see for Joomla: Fabrik and Logos Form Manager. These two apps allow you to interact with and edit tables within Joomla pages.

Of course, it is possible to use other tools but they would not integrate with Joomla's userbase or menu/page structure (examples: www.hkvstore.com/phpmaker www.dbqwiksite.com www.bigprof.com/appgini ). Until now it appears you could integrate using JFusion but that product is not designed to work with Joomla 1.6 or 1.7 yet.

Looks like a market for some industrious entrepreneur! :woohoo:

If RSJoomla combined RSForms Pro and their RSSearch, this feature would sell like hotcakes!
