Hello. Is it possible to combinate javascript with php?

My database table:

id name age
1 Marek 30
2 Peter 26
3 Tom 40

1. field is dropdown menu to choose id (1-3)
2. field - would auto populate name from database, when user choose for example ID=3 in first field

Is it possible to take vallue from first field and use it in database code in second field.

I didnt found on your web any article only some forum question.
