TOPIC: Configuring SMTP mail settings

Configuring SMTP mail settings 12 years 4 months ago #20485

I've been given SMTP Mail settings for a client site which I have put into the Global Config of a Joomla 2.5.8 site with RS Form Pro version 1.4.0 R44.

I have the following:
Mailer: SMTP
From email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
From Name: client name
Sendmail Path: as default
SMTP Authentification: No (have tried yes but same result)
SMTP Security: TLS
SMTP Port: [have inserted 3 digit number here as provided by client]
SMTP Username: [empty field]
SMTP Password: [empty field]
SMTP Host: [have inserted host information as provided by client]

When I test the form on the front end i get the following 2 error lines:

The following from address failed: info at clientname.com.au
The following from address failed: info at clientname.com.au

I assume there's 2 error lines - 1 for each email being sent to the user and the admin, as setup in the RS Form backend.

The submissions are recorded in the RS Form Pro backend but no emails are being sent so I assume this is to do with the SMTP settings.

Does anyone know if I've got any of the Mail settings incorrect to make this work? The client said that I shouldn't need a username and password as they will change every 2-3 months anyway. ??

Thanks,
Jen
