HI,

I have a little question about a PayPal form in which I encountered something weird today. The form was submitted, the client was redirected to PayPal, did his payment and it was received in PayPal. But the Emails (User and Admin) where not sent... and in the submissions management, the Status is still in pending.

So we compared the client's informations from the PayPal receipt and the RSForm back-end submission and noticed that in the form, the client entered his Email address with a capital first letter but on the PayPal receipt, it's all in lowercase (exemple: he entered something like Bobmail@... and on his PayPal account details, it's actually bobmail@...).

Now, my question is, could it be the fact that in the RSForm the client wrote his Email address with an uppercase letter that would've stalled the Email process after the transaction? Or it is due to something else?

Note that 5 submissions were completed with success yesterday (Emails included) prior to this one.

No, the email address doesn't have anything to do with this. Most likely the payment notification was not processed properly. You can submit a support ticket so we can have a closer look at this.

PayPal form - Email not sent but payment did 6 years 1 month ago #38873

I have a similar problem. I have users completing a form, being redirected to PayPal, making a payment, but the submission is not being updated (it is still pending). This seems to only be happening in about 1 of 50 payments. Emails, mappings, etc. all work fine.

I'm getting an email from PayPal that the payment is made. I checked the logs and I'm seeing the following for a few entries:

2019-02-25 06:29:48 : IPN received from PayPal
2019-02-25 06:29:48 : Connecting to www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr to verify if PayPal response is valid.
2019-02-25 06:29:48 : Validation failed -> Operation timed out after 5000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

Any thoughts? Is there a way to force the form to recheck pending payments? If not, it is often difficult to compare the form submission to the PayPal payment since users use different email addresses and PayPal usernames than the ones collected by the form.

Also, and I apologize in advance for pointing out a minor flaw, but there is a spelling error in the plugins/system/rsfppaypal/rsfppaypal.php file.

$this->addLogEntry('Succesfully updated database');

The word is spelled Successfully.

I've done some investigation and sort of answered my own question. I logged into PayPal and forced the resend of one IPN. The website received, logged, and updated the submission properly.

I guess the frustration is that I have about 30 pending payments. I'll need to manually check if they were successfully paid by PayPal.

Any thoughts on how to prevent this problem in the future?
