TOPIC: Hidden Captcha field

Hidden Captcha field 15 years 7 months ago #8493

Hi,

I thought I would ask this question on a forum rather than post a ticket in case someone else might find the answer useful... but I am happy to post a ticket too.

I was creating a captcha field on a form yesterday and noticed there was an option for type: "invisible" - which from the change log looks like it is a hidden field to try and con spambots into completing it and therefore identifying spam.

I couldn't really find any other documentation other than the change log, so I have a few questions:

1. If I include this is in the form, do I need to do anything about processing the received data, or does the rsform pro code automatically identify the hidden field as completed and ban the form post?

2. Is there a way of testing that the hidden captcha is working on the form (without being a spambot)?

3. This seems like a very neat anti-spam solution - would it be enough by itself, or should it still be used with something else, e.g. a visible captcha?

Thanks for your help

Hello,

1) No, you do not need to do anything else.

2) Yes, you can try setting the value of that field manually and test submit it. You will see that the form will not be submitted.

3) This is just an alternative measure, you can use it as a stand-alone or combine with another Captcha field.
