How do I add a field to the registration form? i.e. participants phone number.
The administrator has disabled public write access.

First, solve the problem. Then, write the code.

I think your best bet is going to be using RSFormPro and the integration plugin with RSEVentsPro. You will need to purchase RSFormPro, though. (but it is a great form plugin for joomla!)
