Hi,

When I receive notifications that there has been an unsuccesful attempt to login the e-mails look like this:

<SNIP>
Page: /administrator/index.php

Description: There was an unsuccessful attempt to login into the backend section of your website using a known username.

Alert level: high

Date of event: 15.12.2011 04:36:59

User IP: 78.9.172.4

User Id: 0

Username:
</SNIP>

But the e-mail never includes the Username. Why is that? I am running the version 33 of RSFirewall 1.0.0

The email doesn't tell you what the username that they tried to type in was... it tells you the username of the person that was "naughty".

Since the "naughty" person wasn't logged in (hence "Userid: 0"), there'll never be a username listed for this scenario.
At least, you'd hope there would never be.
:D

Although I do agree that a bit more information appended to the Description would be handy.
e.g.
  • Description: There was an unsuccessful attempt to login into the backend section of your website using a known username [ admin ].
The administrator has disabled public write access.
