just updated to the latest version of RS Firewall and the whitelist doesn't appear to work anymore.
The administrator has disabled public write access.

Same problem here,

Latest version of Joomla 3.0, and RSFirewall.
whitelisted my IP address (As I've done before on other sites with RSFW).
text filters in the Global Configuration correctly for Super Admins.

In custom HTML Module, it is stripping out stylesheets and escaping code characters repeatedly on save (urls are escaped). Usually whitelisting works to avoid this.

Also, even with the active scanner turned off I am still getting stripping of content.

Okay fixed it.

This had NOTHING to do with RSFirewall and may also be the OP's problem as well just guessing.

I forgot to turn of magic_quotes_gpc for the site using j3.x

Follow these instructions and escaping of code goes away.
