Hi,

RSfirewall breaks the e-mail field when it's already filled with an valid e-mail address

This happens when "Convert email addresses from plain text to images" is ON

Replacing e-mail address inside an input is definitely not a good idea... ;-)

The code used by RSFirewall! is based on the Joomla! Email Cloaking Plugin. The same result is expected when using that plugin as well.
Ignoring emails inside values (could be <select>, <input>, <textarea> or any number of things) is a daunting task - we'd need to have a whole HTML parser that would create unneeded overhead. If you have issues, either disable it (it's not a good idea to display plain-text emails in the first place) or use {emailcloak=off} on the page.
