This is not really a problem, I'm just curious about it. I occasionally get notified about a whole lot of failed attempts to login to the backend of Joomla. Today, on one of my sites, I had over 600 attempts, one every few seconds. It is obviously a bot that is doing this but the IP addresses are all widely different - Japan, Mexico, Ukraine, Peru etc. There are never any that get repeated enough to trigger the automatic blacklist (I have this set at 5 failed attempts).

I'm just wondering how this is done and if there is any way to stop it?
The administrator has disabled public write access.
